House. Probably late C17. Roughcast cob; gable end asbestos slate roof; later
stone and slate outshut. Originally a 4-room, baffle-entry plan house. The 2 rooms
to the right of the entry house have been made into one. Axial cob stack with brick
shaft containing some old (possibly original) bricks; C20 right-hand internal end
stack. 2 storeys.
Exterior Front: 5 window range; first floor: the 3-light casement window to the
left, and the 4-light casement window to the right, both original, with chamfered
surround and mullions. 8 leaded panes per light with saddle bars. 2 other 4-light
windows, and one of 2 lights (possibly C18 with pegged frame, 8 or 12 leaded panes
per light, with some crown glass). Ground floor: one 5-light casement window to
the right of the passage, pegged frame with leaded lights; the other windows all
C20, those to the left replacing shop window. Rear with C20 two storey wing and
late casement windows.
Interior: rooms to both left and right of entry with unchamfered axial ceiling
beams. Left-hand room fireplace lintel chamfered with run-out stops, and a later
curved brick back. Between this room and the baffle entry is a stud and plaster
partition.
