Farmhouse. Probably late C17. Rendered stone rubble and cob. Hipped thatch roof.
Brick stack at each end and rendered rear lateral stone rubble hall stack with
offsets, heightened in brick. Corrugated iron roof, hipped at front end to
outbuilding attached at left end.
Plan: 3-room-and-cross-passage plan, with straight run staircase filling the
passage. Lower end parlour to right. Hall to left with long inner room probably
originally a kitchen but divided to form a dairy between the hall and kitchen
proper. There was originally a passage to the front of the dairy connecting the 2
rooms but this was removed in C20 and the kitchen is used as a service room/lobby.
Small outbuilding probably originally a cider house, attached at right angles to
front left end forming overall L-shaped plan.
Exterior: 2 storeys. 3-window range. 3-light casements on each floor, C19
fenestration but leaded lights replaced in C20 to upper storey, 8 panes per light to
ground floor. C20 door.
Interior: mostly remodelled in C20 but C18 2 panelled door to cupboard under stairs
survives. Ceiling beams replaced in C20 but joists are probably C17. Hall
fireplace lintel replaced in C20. C19 chimneypiece to kitchen fireplace. Thin lath
and plaster partitions on each side of cross-passage.
Roof structure: consists of straight prinicipals with pegged lapped collars. No
sign of smoke-blackening.
