Formerly one farmhouse, now two attached cottages. Late C16 with C18, C19,
and C20 alterations to fenestration, and walling. Knapped flint and banded
stone walls and brickwork raising the eaves. Thatch roof with gable ends.
C20. Brick stacks at east end gable and at ridge centre, and at right party
wall with West Hill Cottage. 1½ storeys (Priory) and 2 storeys (Meadow). 3
windows and 2 windows. Fenestration, Priory: 3-light C19 wood casement;
door, 4-light stone mullion window with iron casements and fixed lead
lights. Label. Upper floor has 3 eyebrow dormers, two 2-light C20 metal
casements; one 4-light wood casement. Meadow: (door) 4-light stone mullion
window with iron casements and lead lights. Label over. First floor has
3-light and 4-light C20 wood casements. Front doors: Priory has a plank
door with strap hinges, glass light. Meadow plank door left, with wood
lintel over. Interior: much altered. Meadow has a large hall with a small
early C19 dog-leg stair with Roman Doric newel. Right hand room, formerly
larger before sub-division by hall, fireplace has brick jambs and segmental
brick head. Mid chamfered ceiling beams. (RCHM Dorset III p70(12))
