3/74 Group of 4 Goddard monuments,
in the churchyard, immediately
south of chancel of
St Rumbold's Church

GV II

2 stones and 2 table tombs 1774-1797. Stone. The stones are both similar
and are reset against the chancel wall. They have round panels for inscriptions
with cherubs and stylised suns inscribed IHS above. Foliage carving to either
side of panel. Lettering in round, lower case and gothic script. To William
and Mary Goddard.

Westernmost table tomb has moulded plinth and top with baluster ends. Double
oval panels framed with guilloche. Particularly fine carved, knotted ribbon
decoration. Lettering in lower case copperplate. To William Goddard.

Easternmost table tomb has moulded top and plinth with oval panel for inscription
Central panel flanked by subsidiary rectangular panels containing lozenges and
carved rays radiating from corners. Upper and lower case round lettering.
