Description

1.
GREAT EASTON ANDREWS FARM LANE
Barn 10 m S of
Andrews Farmhouse

TL 62 NW: 4/112

GV II

2.
Barn, late C17 timber framed and black weatherboarded, with gabled, corrugated iron
roof and gabled midstrey on SW corner. Of 4 square bays, with one wide bay on the
W end, it appears to have been considerably shortened. The framing is unusual, with
jowless posts, straight bracing, arched braces to tie beam, 'V' struts and a roof
with primary, low collared rafters, secondary rafters with high collars and collarless
common rafters between. Primary and secondary rafters have joggled, low, framed
purlins and shorter joggled purlins link the collared rafters, at high level. Scarf
joints are halved and bladed, and some under-building of brick on N and E walls.
