Stone obelisk on a vermiculated plinth, fitted respectively with iron handle
and spout for use as the Town Pump. Iron socket at apex for a lamp (which
survives only in design by Chambers in the collection of Mrs Shuttleworth
of Old Warden Park, near Biggleswade). At the foot of the obelisk the
distance to an important town in each direction is engraved on the appropriate
face. Beneath these distances tile following inscription runs round the
4 faces: ERECTED BY/THE EARL OF/UPPER OSSORY/AD MDCCLXXXV. AM
