Farmhouse. Probably C16, extended in early C19. Timber frame
faced in painted brick; extended in Flemish bond painted brick.
Plain tile roofs with gabled ends. Brick gable end and axial
stacks. Plan: L-shaped on plan. 2-room plan front range with
central entrance, both rooms heated from gable end stacks; the
left room is an early C19 extension or rebuild (brick at rear
inscribed A E 1827). Long wing at rear of right hand room
contains timber framing and has later, partly rebuilt, extension
at its south end. Exterior: 2 storey. Asymmetrical 3-window north
front range. C20 2 and 3-light casements, ground floor left C19
16-pane sash. Central doorway with pilastered doorcase, bracketed
canopy, rectangular overlight and glazed and panelled door. On
left of front a brick platband at first floor level. Left gable
end has some exposed timber framing and external brick stack with
set-offs. Right hand gable end has hatch to attic in gable with
small plank door. Long single storey and attic wing at rear with
C20 casements, flat roof dormer and roof light; south end rebuilt
in brick. Interior: Chamfered and stopped ceiling beams. Exposed
timber frame with jowled posts and curved braces to tie-beams,
collars with clasped purlins and curved wind-braces.
