8/37 The Old Vicarage

Former vicarage. Early C18, with C17 origins, refenestrated C19. Colour
washed render over brick, with fragments of substantial timber frame visible
to rear block interior. Slate roof. Double pile plan, 2 storeys and attics,
with 2-span roof. Front elevation: ground floor has 3 french windows to L and
canted bay to R also with french windows. First floor has 5 flush sashes
without glazing bars. 3 box dormers with 2-light casements. Red brick stacks
to both gable ends. S elevation: front doorway, under segmental arch, flanked
by Tuscan pilasters, with broad fanlight with glazing bars, and side lights.
Door itself has 2 flush and 4 fielded panels. N elevation has 2-liqht
casements under cambered heads. Substantial brick stack serving the C17
hearth, to N corner of E elevation. Interior retains painted wood panelling
to hallway and fielded panel shutters to windows. 2 parallel C19 one-storey
additions project from rear.
