Farmhouse. Early Cl7 origin with C18 and later alterations and additions.
Rubble, partly rendered to front, pantiled roof with brick gable stacks, double
Roman tiled roof to rear wing. L-plan formed by outbuilding joined to house
probably late C17/early C18; former through passage plan. Front (now rear) to
south has 2 storeys and 3 windows, roof-line steps down to block to left;
ground floor has two 2-light casements to left, panelled and glass door in
bolection moulded frame with cambered head, jambs repaired at lower level,
3-light casement to right; 1st floor has two 2-light casements under eaves to
left, 2-light casement with timber lintel to right. Right return has timber
member remaining in wall, small square C20 window beside flue at ground floor
level, 2-light casement with chamfered mullion and frame, timber lintel at 1st
floor, attic window with chamfered frame and timber lintel, C19 2-light casement
inserted. Rear has straight joint where roof-line steps down, ground floor has
2 C20 windows, to left replacing former door, C20 door to right, 1st floor has
3-light double chamfered window with timber lintel to left, C20 window under
eaves to right. 1½ storey rear wing has straight joints showing where
attached to main house, ground floor has C20 window and door under same timber
lintel, two 3-light casements under one timber lintel, all early C19, C20 door
to right, 2 C20 dormers, battered walls to original outbuilding and ridge stack,
formerly gable stack, with addition at end. Interior: ground floor room to
right (former hall) has chamfered beam with bar and scroll stops, central room
has C19 panelling and winder stair behind plank and batten door. Former hall
chamber has ovolo mouldings and loop catches to inside of 3-light casement,
chamfered beam with bar and scroll stop, cupboard panelling with butterfly
hinges; room has been divided to form passage for access to rear wing, formerly
would have had large closet lit by 2-light window at right return. Former
outbuilding has slightly cambered chamfered beams with scroll stops, oven with
cast iron door in fireplace.
