Country house, now divided into three houses. Probably mid C18, altered and
extended mid - late C19. Rubble with freestone dressings; slate roof with
cornice and parapet in parts. 2 storeys, cellars and attics, in 3 dormers in a
mansard roof to the centre. The north elevation is irregular: the core of the
house is to the left-centre consisting of 5 glazing bar sash windows in plain
surrounds and an off-centre projecting porch with a concave gable and a finail.
At the far left is a late C19 square projecting bay (2 windows on the first
floor); to the right of the centre is a further projecting bay of 3 windows and
floor. The south elevation has a 5 bay arcaded loggia, now glazed. Interior:
the central room of Failand House has a moulded cornice, panelled dado and
above.
