Farmhouse and barn adjoining to rear. Possibly late C16 or early C17 although
remodelled in C19 and C20. Rendered stone rubble and cob with rag slate roof with
gable ends and renewed end stacks. 2 converted farm outbuildings continue on left-
hand gable end with unplastered cob walls to rear and lower rag slate roofs with
gable ends. Brick chimney stack inserted between these 2 outbuildings. Stone rubble
and cob barn with slate roof with hipped ends set back from right-hand gable end of
main range. Angle between barn and main range with stone rubble range with lean-to
slate roof.
2 room and through passage plan with larger probably hall/kitchen on right and
smaller parlour on left. Projection for possible turreted stair from hall on front
right of right hand room. Further extended on left-hand gable end with farm
outbuildings with separate entrances. Circa C19 barn with loft above set back from
right-hand gable end, further extended with lean-to outbuilding in angle between barn
and main range, forming an overall 'L' shaped plan.
2 storeys, asymmetrical 2-window front with projection on right, possibly for stair.
Ground floor with 4-pane sash on left, C20 partly glazed door to left of centre and
2-light casement to right with small window in projection. First floor with two 4-
pane sashes. Converted outbuildings to left with original openings retained with
plank doors. C20 double-glazed door in converted outbuilding to right.
Interior with late C19/C20 stair inserted in passage and right-hand partition of
passage,removed. C20 chimneypieces in hall and parlour and C19 fireplace in rear
wing. Stair projection in front wall of hall, converted to dairy in circa late C19.
Owners recall blocked window on right-hand side elevation of projection between
ground and first floor. Circa late C19 roof structure with collars bolted onto face
of principals. Derivation of name Rose-in-Vale, Resnovallan.
