Farmhouse. Circa early C19. Stone rubble with Dressed quoins; rendered on front
elevation with painted quoins. Rag slate roof with gable ends and brick end stacks.
Plan: double depth plan with wide central through passage which has been blocked
towards the rear bu the insertion of an early to mid C19 stair; 2 reception rooms on
front heated by end stacks ans originally large kitchen on rear left heated by an end
stack and smaller dairy on rear right with small loby between, to the rear of the
stair. 2 storey service station extnsion of circa mid to late C19 on left.
2 storeys and cellar. Symmetrical 3 window front with two 16-pane sashes on grouud
floor, the right hand sash horned, and central C20 glazed porch with gabled end and
C20 glazed door. First floor has three 16-pane sashes, the left hand sash replaced
in circa and C20 with a horned sash: Segmental brick arches to openings on rear
elevation with C19 panelled door.
Interior : Wide central passage with stair inserted blocking rear of passage; simple
C19 softwood stair with fairly thick stick balusters, square newels and ramped
moulded rail. Timber suspended floor above cellar which extends under front roots
and slate flag floor on rear. Right hand front reception room has a C20 chimneypiece
and the dado has been removed ans stored in cellar. The left hand front room has a
mouldad cornice, dado rail and C20 tiled fireplace. Kitchen on rear left has a slate
chimney piece with high segmental arch and incised lines. The central keystone has a
crest which has been incised in the slate with 'The Farmers Arms' and motto 'in God
is our trust'. Shield quarterad with sheaf of corn, sickle and hoe, rake and sieve.
