Midsomer Norton
HIGH STREET (north side)
Nos 12 and 13

GV
II

A pair of shops with accommodation above of late C18 date and raised by one storey in 1870.

MATERIALS: the buildings are constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. Both have a slate roof and there are three chimneys, one of which is brick and two of which are rendered.

EXTERIOR: of two storeys plus attic, No 12 is of two bays and No 13 is of three bays. The first floor has glazing bar sash windows in beaded surrounds. There are three half dormers to the part-attic storey with elaborate bracketed bargeboards and plate glass segmental-headed sash windows. On the ground floor there are two late C19 two-light shop windows. The ground floor window of No 12 has panelled sides. No 13 has a similar window with fascia brackets and a blind box as well as a three-light stone mullion window with plate glass sashes to the right of the modern door. There is an ashlar block over the door to No 13 which is now obscured and was possibly once a date stone.

The buildings are similar to 10 and 11 High Street (listed at Grade II).
