A Grade I Listed Building in Ryhall, Rutland

Church of St John the Evangelist, Ryhall

Uploader's Comments

The church is associated with the legend of the C7 St Tibba, neice of King Penda of Mercia and patron saint of falconers. On the north wall of the church are the remains of a hermitage, associated with her cult. The first church on the site C9 would have built close to her cell or her burial place. (Photo Apr 2008).
