House. Late C18, altered late C19. Coursed limestone rubble with brick
dressings to early section; later red brick additions, stacks and slate
roof. Central entrance hall plan. 2 storeys with attic, 3 bays;
symmetrical. Quoins. 2-course brick cill bands to each floor. Flight of
stone steps to entrance. C18 doorcase with architrave, frieze with raised
central panel bearing moulded festoon, dentilled cornice and hood on carved
consoles; 6-fielded-panel door beneath moulded cornice and 3-pane overlight
in panelled reveal. Full-height C19 projecting bays to either side with
single cellar windows and pairs of sashes to ground and first floors, all
under segmental brick arches with dripmoulds and raised keys. Single C19
sash window with margin lights over entrance in enlarged original opening
with brick surround. C19 dentilled brick eaves cornice. Central dormer
with margin lights. Hipped roof to bays and dormer. End stacks. C18
pointed attic windows to gable ends with Gothick glazing bars. Interior.
Original details include: good open well staircase with ramped and wreathed
handrail and column-on-vase balusters with square knops; moulded stairhall
ceiling with cornice; arched alcove with architrave to ground floor right;
moulded cornices and chimneypieces with composition ornament to first floor
rooms; panelled doors.
