Planned terrace of houses. 1807 rainwater head to No.78.
Stucco to front, slatehanging to rear of Nos 72-78; slurried
slate and dry slate roofs with dentilled eaves cornice; large
brick end stacks. Double-depth plan, each house with 1 large
room at the front and the entrance hall to one side, plus rear
service wings.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic over basement; each house a
3-window range. Late C19 or C20 horned sashes, those to No.78
with glazing bars. Nos 72, 74 and 78 have pilastered doorways
with blind fanlights to open pediments; No.76 with entablature
instead of pediment; all with panelled doors and reveals.
No.68 has enclosed entrance porch to right-hand return.
Original 3 and 4-storey semicircular bay windows with fluted
pilasters to rear of Nos 72-78.
INTERIOR: not inspected but likely to be of interest.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: low plinth on basement walls surmounted
by wrought-iron railings with urn finials; steps up to
entrances.
Part of a planned late Georgian street, laid out in 1773.
