Farmhouse, now house. Late C16 altered early C18, extended C20. Brick
with vitreous headers in contrasting patterns; old tile hipped roof. L-plan
with C20 extension within the angle. 2 storeys and cellars. Chimney on left
side with central strip pilaster and offset head carried round pilasters.
Projecting plinth, string at first floor level, moulded and painted wood
cornice with modillions. Sash windows with glazing bars. Entrance front:-
5 bays with slightly projecting bonded brick strips the whole height
flanking each bay; these strips are on the same plane as the string and
the heads of first floor windows. The second and fourth upper windows
from the left are blocked. Recessed 6-panelled entrance door with
side lights and flat hood on cut brackets with semi-circular fanlight
above with rectangular glazing;rubbed brick voussoirs and keyblock.
Short lengths of vitreous brick in diaper pattern flanking centre upper
window with defaced diamond shaped tiles under each, the left-hand with
-G, the right with 1--1 West front:- bonded quoins, string, and cornice
returned round two feet from south front, one bay of windows at outer
cerners. Under the left hand bay are two cellar windows and some old
brickwork. Interior:- some timber frame visible and a late C16 open
well staircase the whole height of the house with turned balusters and
heavy moulded handrail. B.O.E. p.143.
