Farmhouse. Early - mid C17, much altered in the late C18 - early C19. Colour
washed local stone and flint rubble; stone rubble stacks, one topped with C20 brick,
the other one (at the south end) with a late C18 - early C19 brick chimneyshaft
including an illegible Beerstone plaque; thatch roof.
Plan and development: 2-room plan house facing east with gable-end stacks and
integral service outshots to rear. The main doorway is in the left (south) end.
The partition between the 2 main rooms has been removed. The C17 house was the main
front rooms. The right (north) end stack was probably added in the late C18 - early
C19 when the outshots were rebuilt and the whole house refurbished. 2 storeys.
Exterior: irregular 2-window front of late C19 and C20 casements with glazing bars.
The roof is hipped to right and gable-ended to left. The doorway in the left end
wall contains a late C19 - early C20 4-panel door.
Interior: is mostly the result of the late C18 - early C19 and later
modernisations. However some C17 carpentry remains in the front rooms. The former
left (south) room was the larger of the two and it had a chamfered and step-stopped
crossbeam. The fireplace has been somewhat altered but still has its chamfered oak
lintel. The former right room has a chamfered axial beam and the fireplace here is
C20. The roofspace is inaccessible and the trusses are boxed into the first floor
partitions.
