Lodge, early-to-mid C18th with C19th additions and possible earlier remains.
Pebbledashed rubble with sandstone dressings and slate roof. 2 storeys.
Comprises a 3-bay section with a cross-wing at its right, and a later C19th
addition set back further right. Main 3-bay section has windows with plain
stone surrounds and false keystones, a blank 1st floor, and a bracketed
cornice with blocking course. The central doorway has long-and-short jambs
and progressively projecting voussoirs and keystone breaking through a
cornice. The cross-wing has mullioned windows with inner hollow chamfer,
outer chamfer, and hoods: of 2 lights on the ground floor and 3 on the
1st floor. The one-light chamfered attic window has a pointed head and hood
The door, at the left, has a moulded surround with Tudor-arched head. The
gable has 3 finials of square plan. The addition at the right has a 3-light
mullioned window on each floor. Chimney in line with door of left-hand section,
and on gable of extension. This right-hand (south-west) gable wall has 2
one-light windows with Tudor-arched heads and hoods on the ground floor, and
a similar window on the 1st floor. Set into the wall to its left is a tablet
carved with 8 shields of arms; probably re-set. Interior not inspected.
