The Old Manor House

House, now divided into two properties; originally a C14 house remodelled
in C17 and with extensive alterations of 1863. Coursed limestone and iron-
stone rubble, banded on right hand side, ashlar quoins and dressings,
C20 concrete tiled roof with raised stone coped gables and 2 moulded gable
and off centre ridge stacks. Two storeys with attics; irregular six bay
front. Left hand C19 door with date stone over on a shield shaped plaque
with hood mould inscribed 'IAH 1863', flanked by single three light casements
with relieving arches over. A further C19 door to right with a small
C19 fixed light beyond. All ground floor openings have deep ashlar lintels
First floor has a single two light and one three light casements. To the
extreme right it a small square blocked C17 window. In the roof are two
C19 gabled dormers with two light casements. Inside is a possibly
repositioned C14 deep niche with a cusped trefoil head which may have
been a piscina; the back wall in which it is set has a prominent batter
on the inner face. This is the site of a monastic grange.
