GV II
Culvert mouth, lining, retaining walls, bridge and possible sheep-wash.
Late C18 - early C19 probably with later C19 repairs and alterations.
Coursed and squared grey gritstone. Overall length approximately 20
metres. Round-arched culvert mouth of voussoirs, similar arch to bridge
which has projecting band at road level and large blocks to parapet. The
south arch of the bridge is concealed by a pair of stone slabs with grooves
on the inner face to take wooden shuttering to restrict the flow of water.
The culvert lining widens above the bridge, creating a drinking pool or
deeper channel for dipping. The culvert carries Thorpe Beck under the road
and to west of Manor House Farm.
