House. Late C16 with later alterations. Lobby-entrance front
wing to street added late C17. In use as public house until
late C20. Timber frame, with colourwashed brick skin added to
facade in mid C19. Roof of black-glazed pantiles (front
block), and plaintiles (rear wing).
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys in 2-window range. Late C20 door set left
of centre and reached from flight of 4 steps. One early C20
casement right and left, and two to first floor. Gabled roof.
Mid C19 ridge stack with triple octagonal flues and star tops.
To east is a single-storey gabled bay with one early C20
casement to north and one late C20 casement to east return.
Various rear outshuts. 2-storey rear wing fitted with 2- and
3-light C19 casements. C20 brick to ground floor,
timber-framed first floor. Gabled roof.
INTERIOR: subsequent plan complicated by alterations. Timber
frame of medium scantling. Stack tunnelled through to provide
passageway to rear. Rear wing with bridging beams on knuckle
braces to wall posts, and a late C16 clasped purlin roof.
Front range frame has arched wall braces and roof of through
purlins.
