3/7 Pear Tree Cottage

GV II

House and outbuilding; now house. Early C18; raised and altered later.
Coursed limestone; sandstone quoins and dressings; pantile roof; rebuilt
brick stacks. Originally 2-cell, gable-entry plan, extended later into
outbuildings to left. 1½-storey, 3-window front. Central panelled double
doors. 3-light horizontal sliding sash with glazing bars to right; blocked
fire window at end right. 2 16-pane sahes to left of door. Upper windows
are 2-light, large-pane, horizontal sliding sahes under thin timber
lintels. All lower openings have keyed lintels. Interior: quarter-round
moulded beams throughout ground floor. In room to right C18 wall panelling
survives intact. Also ogee-topped, chamfered bressumer over stone fireplace
with corbelled-out moulded lintel, and stone bench against the neck.
Cupboards with 6-panel doors flank the fireplace. The firehood survives in
the first floor room to right. Studded partitions throughout first floor.
