Bridge over River Crimple. Mid-late C18, widened and rebuilt on east
(downstream) side in C19-C20. Coursed squared sandy gritstone. Upstream
(west) face: 2 segmental arches, the river now channelled through the right-
hand arch, the left arch silted up. Cutwater carried up as a pilaster to
the slightly projecting parapet coping. Further pilasters flank the arches
and are spaced along the parapet, 7 in total. Projecting band at road
level. Downstream face has single main arch with recessed voussoirs,
smaller dry arch and 3 pilasters; the parapet has a metal plaque on the face
to the road with the parish boundary marked: RIBSTON - NORTH
