House. Mid-late C17 with remains of earlier timberwork and C19 alterations.
Coursed gritstone rubble, roof of small slates. Low 2-storey, 3-bay lobby-
entrance plan, facing south (away from road). 4-panel door on left of bay
3, with wooden lintel. 3-light recessed mullion windows to ground floor,
mullions removed and paired 4-light casements inserted. Cement covering to
possibly later window to right of door. 2 inserted windows to first floor
left. Ridge stack above door and to left end. Outbuilding attached to left
end not of special interest. Rear: 3 small C19 windows. Right return:
blocked 2-light mullion window to right of small square central window;
inserted first-floor window with concrete sill and lintel. Interior not
inspected at resurvey but reported to have a smoke-blackened common rafter
roof which was originally thatched, a common feature in the Vale of York but
unusual in this area. North Yorkshire and Cleveland Vernacular Buildings
