Stable-block and coach-house to Morthen Hall now house. Mid C18 with added
coach-house probably early C19. Coursed, dressed sandstone, C20 cement-tile
roof. Single range with coach-house to right. 2 storeys, total of 6 windows
to 1st floor. Stable block to left: plinth, large projecting quoins, sill bands.
4 round-arched, quoined doorways with panelled and part-glazed doors (bay-2 door
fixed); radial glazing bars to fanlights. 4-pane casement to right of each door,
2 in original square-faced surrounds the others in altered openings. 4-pane
casement above each door all in square-faced surrounds. Eaves cornice. Coach-house
to right: flush quoins. 2 rebated, segmental-arched, carriage entrances with
central pier and renewed boarded doors; 2-light mullioned window over each arch.
Continuous roof with shaped kneelers and gable copings, 4 C20 rooflights, 2 stone
ridge stacks. Left return: C20 2-storey bay-window projection with square-faced
mullioned windows, cornice and hipped roof. Included for group value.
