2.
Probably built as a farmhouse in the latter part of the C17, later subdivided and
extended early to mid C18, viz No 5. Two storeys, coursed gritstone with stone slate roof. Two light chamfered mullion windows in splayed reveals to Nos 2 to 4, some with mullions cut and No 4 with C19 windows inserted. Four centred chamfered head doorway to No 3, the lintel dated 1674. The doorway to No 4 has lintel dated 1727 and this may be the date when No 5 was added, though on 2 storeys, the elevations are taller and of a more sophisticated design, possibly built as a coach house. Rusticated quoins, large dentils to carved stone eaves cornice and coped gable ends. First floor has tripartite square mullioned lunette window, ground floor altered with modern window. The gable end has a blind Venetian window with keystone to arch.
