Gothic Revival church in Decorated style. 1848 by Bonomi and Cory.
Hammer dressed stone. Stone slate roof. Squat square, unbuttressed
west tower with stair turret. Low, 4-bay nave with lean-to north and
south aisles and south porch. 3-bay chancel with 2-bay chapel to
south and vestry to north. 2-light bell chamber openings with square
head and Tudor-arched lights. 3-light window, on west side.
Crenellated parapet. 2-light, square headed clerestory windows with
tracery. 3-light aisle and chapel windows. 6-light transomed window
to chancel, south side. Large 14-light transomed east window. All
with Decorated tracery. The lean-to vestry on north side has 3
diagonally set ashlar stacks with crenellated caps.
Interior: 4-bay arcade to north and south on octagonal piers. 2-bay
arcaded chancel with side chapel to right and organ to left. Choir
stalls in chancel. Carved and traceried chancel screen with texts at
base. Straight-backed pews with straight sides. Scissor braced nave
roof with pierced side panels. Heavy hammer beam chancel roof with
pierced spandrels and pendant bosses.
