Farmhouse. c.1860. G. Godwin (editor of "The Builder"), probably for the Duke
of Beaufort. Rubble brought to courses, freestone dressings, slate roof, raised
coped verges with saddlestones and cast iron crestings. Picturesque composition
of gables, dormers and tower. 2 storeys, most windows are 2- and 3-light mullion
and transom under drips; main elevation dominated by protruding tower over
porch with quatrefoil over tudor arch doorway with drip, 2½ storeys in gable to
left with canted bay below; return elevation has 2 expressed chimneys which rise
with octagonal stacks. C20 flat roof single storey extension at rear. Built
with adjacent model farm (q.v.).
