Farmhouse. C17. Timber framed with rendered infill and slate roof.
Two storeys. T-shaped plan. Entrance front. Brick plinth supporting
18 x 3 cells of small framing with angle braces to right, left and
left of centre. A further row of twelve cells has been added above
these at which time the roof pitch was made shallower. To the ground
floor are three C19 casement windows with a C19 door of 6 raised and
fielded panels to left of centre with a C19 gabled porchway in front.
To the first floor are three 3-light casement windows projecting into
the row of later cells. The right-hand portion of this front has
raised mastic in imitation of several perished timbers. The rear
has a projecting two-storeyed gabled wing to the centre with 4 x 3
cells of small framing to each side and rising to the height of the
original roof level of the whole house. The roof however is of a
shallower (ie.later) pitch.
Interior: The ground floor parlour has chamfered ceiling beam with
stepped stops and one replaced unmoulded beam. The rafters between
all have stepped stops. Inglenook fireplace to the same room with
ogee arched chamfer to bressumer which also have ogee end stops. Two
other ground floor rooms have chamfered ceiling beams and exposed
rafters. The wing at rear has a chamfered ceiling beam which appears
to be reused.
