Farmhouse, now 2 houses. Brown Rock Cottage to left, of C17, with Brown Rock
House added mid C18, with later alterations. Both rubble, double Roman tiled
roof, to left with brick and stone gable stacks, to right with brick and large
limestone quoins, raised coped verges and brick gable stacks. To left, 2 storeys
and 4 windows, all C20 2-light casements, irregularly spaced, glazed door second
from left; at left return a small single light at first floor left, timber
members remaining from possible former attic lights. To right, taller 2 storeys
and 3 windows, all 16-pane sashes with timber lintels, central 6-panelled door
with flat wooden hood on brackets, carved stone shield of arms set over door,
plinth; formerly had window to left and right at ground and first floor,
fenestration altered early C19. Right return has blank gable end; rear has
lower 2-storey wing to right with C20 plate-glass window at ground and first
floor, gable end has 2-light casement at ground floor and large 6-pane light
above, both C20, small lean-to in angle with small plate-glass sash, C20 brick
lean-to to left with 1/2-glazed door, rear of main house has round-headed window at
upper level with Y-tracery, leaded lights and brick head. Interiors: not
inspected.
