23.1.61 The Grange

GV II

House. C16. Substantial timber frame with close-studding. Coursed ironstone
rubble plinth. Pebbledash render. Clay tile roof. H-plan, 2 storeys, the E
cross-wing exceptionally tall. A pair of gables projects slightly from N
elevation of central block. Variety of windows, mostly casements, some C20,
with sashes with glazing bars to E elevation. Substantial red brick multiple
stacks, top parts rebuilt C19, at junctions between central block and cross-
wings. C19 one and 2-storey additions to NE in red brick. Interior: formerly
contained wood panelled room, removed 1928 to Victoria and Albert Museum.
