7/102 Penmadown Lodge

GV II

Lodge to Port Eliot. Mid Cl9 with some later alterations. Slatestone rubble with
limestone dressings. Slate roof with gable ends and raised coped verges, gable end
stack to right and front stack to main range.
Plan: 3-room plan, with 2 rooms in main range and entrance to left; room to right
heated by gable end stack and room to left heated by front lateral stack. One-room
plan front wing. Asymmetrical Gothic style.
Exterior: 2 storeys; front 2-storey wing has triangular canted bay in limestone with
3 cusped lights each side with C20 glazing, at first floor a narrower triangular bay
with 2 similar lights. Gable to each side of wing with 3 similar lights at ground
floor and 2 at first floor. Pointed arched doorway to left in main range, with inner
plain door. Limestone bandcourse around whole front. Left side has the gable end
facing the drive into Port Eliot; doorway formed as porch with pointed arch at the
side, hood mould over, continued as a lintel string for 2 cusped lights at ground
floor. First floor has corbelled triangular oriel in limestone with 2 trefoil lights
to each side with C20 glazing. To the right, on the main range, paired trefoil light
at ground floor with limestone band course continued. The right side of the wing has
a stack corbelled out the rising through the gable. Right side of main range has
paired trefoil lights at first floor with limestone band course and relieving arch.
Gable end stack.
Interior: Not inspected.
In similar style to Nos. 2 and 2 Furze Park Lodge (q.v.).
