Farmhouse. Dated GEP 1777, incorporating some earlier building, and with alterations
of mid C19 and later. Slatestone and greenstone rubble, coursed in the front; upper
level to front slate-hung. Hipped slate roof with ridge tiles; end stack to left,
C17 ashlar rear lateral hall stack with cornice; there appears to have been no stack
at the right end.
Plan: 3-room plan, with one room to left heated by end stack, passage and 2 rooms to
right, the hall heated by a rear lateral stack. Remodelled in 1777, with stair tower
to rear of passage and outshut to rear of the lower end to left. C19 outshut to rear
of the hall and the inner room. C19 granary attached to rear left.
Exterior: 2 storeys, asymmetrical 4-window range. At first floor, all 4-pane sashes,
ground floor has 4-pane sash, 4-panelled door with hipped slate hood, 4-pane sash
with sidelights to hall and 2-light C20 casement. Left side has external stack,
slate-hung; attached to rear left, a small 2-storey granary, with hipped roof,
slate-hung at the front, with door to front. The outshut is built around the right
side, with C20 stable door and 2-light casement at the side and 2-light casement with
H hinges to rear; straight joint to main range. At the rear, there is an external
stair to the granary, which has a loft door with strap hinges. To left, the outshut
is of single storey, with C20 8-pane light. Stair tower with hipped roof and 2-light
8-pane casement with L hinges and splayed stone head. The rear lateral stack to the
hall has cornice, and curved oven at the base. End outshut to right is of one storey
with loft, and has a 3-light C20 casement at ground floor, 4-pane light to loft.
