Mediaeval and Tudor fragments built into the courtyard wall. 2 heads probably
of fireplaces and a window or niche. Much weathered. 4 centre arch headed 3 light
mullion formerly built into rear extension of No 16 stored in shed at rear. All
from the C15 monastery hostel of the Guild of Our Lady St Mary which stood on the
site. [R.C.H.M.].
Nos 1 to 5 (consec) The Retreat Almshouses and the south-east wall of courtyard
to The Retreat form a group.
