Lodge. Circa early-mid C19. Shale rubble walls with shallow brick arches. 1-shaped
scantle slate roof with projecting eaves and verges at gable ends with serpentine
shaped and pierced wooden bargeboards. Gabled porch and later outshut to rear.
Rendered lateral brick chimneys with diagonally set shafts over original rear wall
and further tall chimney over rear wall of outshut.
Plan originally 2 rooms of kitchen/living-room left (west) and smaller parlour with
bay window, right, and with stairs between. 2 service rooms added circa mid C19 to
rear within single storey lean-to and heightened to make 2 further bedrooms circa
late C19.
2 storeys. South front has projecting gable end, left, with central gable ended
entrance porch and side wall of parlour set back to right with original 20-pane 2-
light ground floor window. Entrance porch has central 4-centred arched brick
doorway, and over porch rising partly into gable is further original 20-pane 2-light
window. Right-hand gable end (east) has similar window to first floor and original
4-light bay window with slate roof to ground floor. All 4 original windows have
deep chamfered frames and mullions.
Interior is simple but little altered. Some beamed ceilings, cast iron range in
back kitchen, and resited iron grate in original kitchen.
Although extended this building still retains most of its architectural detail
including the original windows, bargeboards etc.
