Description

SW 84 SW KEA KEA

2/163 2 headstones to Crago family at
approx 20m east of All Hallows
Church of Saint Kea

GV II

2 headstones. North stone to John Crago also Catherine the daughter of James Crago
and south stone, 1812, to James, husband of Catherine Crago, both stones by Floyd of
Truro. Slate monoliths with cavetto corners and nowy-headed. West faces have
incised fat face lettering.
John Crago died aged 88, Catherine aged 24, and James Crago died aged 58.
The present church, of 1896, replaces a church of 1802 designed by James Wyatt, and
the churchyard dates from then. Very few tomb monuments survive at the earlier
church at Old Kea; so the earlier C19 churchyard monuments in this churchyard, though
modest architecturally, are historically important for this parish.
