Small house. Circa early C19. Slatestone rubble with granite quoins and brick
arches with projecting keystones. Double span slurried scantle slate roof with brick
chimneys over gable ends of front roof and further lateral brick chimney mid way over
rear wall.
2-room central stair plan plus 2 integral shallower service rooms to rear.
2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window south west front with central doorway and glazed C20
door. Shallow arches over openings. Original 16-pane hornless sashes.
Interior not inspected but said to be little altered.
One of a group of 4 similar houses built on a 3 life lease system.
'Under such leases a piece of waste ground could be obtained at a nominal rent, and
on it the lessee would proceed to erect a house with the understanding that at the
death of the longest lived of three selected persons, the ground, together with all
the buildings, and improvements should revert to the original owner. Leases could
