SW 84 SW KEA COOMBE

2/143 Holly Cottage

GV II

Pair of cottage, now 1 house. Circa mid C19 slatestone rubble walls with slate sills
and shallow brick arches. Slurried scantle slate roof with brick chimneys over gable
ends.
Each cottage originally with 1 front room; passages, parallel to middle, leading to
stairs and narrow rear service rooms. Right-hand cottage has workshop or fish cellar
extension to right (south west).
2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window north west front with central window blind and
painted on. Doorways to middle with narrow stone pier between. C20 doors, left one
only used as door. Windows are original 16-pane hornless sashes. Workshop, right has
ground floor doorway left with ledged door; weather boarded to first floor with
central window with vertical. glazing bars.
Interior not inspected.
An unspoilt pair of cottages at the head of the beautiful creek at Coombe and part of
a group of mostly little altered late C18 and early-mid C19 houses.
