House, built 1852 in castle style for Thomas Peatling, local brewer and wine
merchant. Gault brick. Embattled parapet, and crow-stepped gable ends. Ridge
stacks. Plan of main range with central canted bay, and service wings at rear. Two
storeys. Dripmoulds and splayed reveals to two gothic casements, and two cross-frame
casements at ground floor. The canted bay has a similar gothic casement at first
floor, and three full length casements in two-centred arches, two with traceried
heads. Entry in east gable end, approached by flight of three steps. In the west
gable end there is an embattled oriel window with gothic casements. The house is said
to incorporate part of the lantern of the Octagon Church, Wisbech.
