House. Rebuilt 1785, probably for Captain Raines; later raised. Red brick,
rendered and colour-washed, timber eaves cornice, graduated slate roof.
Double-pile plan. 3 storeys, 5 bays 2:1:2. Centre 3 bays break forward
slightly. Door of 6 raised and fielded panels under fanlight with
curvilinear glazing bars in early C19 Doric porch with paired columns,
triglyph frieze, mutule cornice and blocking course. French windows with
glazing bars to right and left, sashes with glazing bars and sills to ends
all under channelled wedge lintels with raised keyblocks. First floor band.
First floor: sashes with glazing bars and sills under channelled wedge
lintels with raised keyblocks. Second floor: 6-panel windows with sills
under channelled wedge lintels with raised keyblocks. Eaves cornice with
paired brackets. End stacks, hipped roof. Single-storey 2-bay extension to
left has sill band, sashes with glazing bars under channelled wedge lintels
with raised keyblocks, and hipped roof. Original doorcase is reset to rear
door. Later extensions to side not of special interest. The interior has
been largely destroyed but does retain a number of 6-panel doors in 3
different designs. Disused and derelict at time of resurvey.
