Decessit Januari 1764 Aetat 59 Monumentum hoc Amoris et Moeroris perpetuum Testem charissimi posuerunt Liberi (Loose translation): Sacred to the memory of Francis Wilcox Minister of this Church, and nearly fifty years Master of the Grammar School at Bitchfield as well. As Vicar and a man, both of learning and of virtues, he was very accomplished; Who, when he had carried Christs banner for seventy-four years, earned his passage to Heaven. When God called, he gladly accepted the fate given him as timely, in the Year 1776. In the same prepared tomb lie the ashes of Anne his wife, a lady remarkable for kindness, piety, integrity, and being a good, watchful, caring parent. How her children would like to have her back! She died in January 1764 in the 59th year of her age. This monument stands witness to the dear love and everlasting sorrow felt by their Children.
Under the inscription there is a shield of Arms, Sable a fess between three cocks or (Wilcox). At the top of the monument, the angel has lost the bell of his trumpet. (Photo Apr 2014).
