MODBURY
BROWNSTON STREET (west side)
Gateway, wall and railings to North Traine

GV
II
Railings on dwarf wall, gateway, boundary wall. Late C19. Rendered rubble and cast iron. Set of railings with fleur-de-lys terminals, full width of property, connecting to colonnade of Trayne House (qv) left, and gateway right. Railings set to dwarf wall with bold ogee-curve coping; at right end, at an angle, gateway with grooved rendering containing arched opening to keystone and a good two-panel round-headed door. Above moulded cornice three blocking pieces in Greek style. Joining gateway to front of house a short length of wall c.2 m high, grooved and surmounted by c.600 mm curved cast iron railing. The walling to the right of the gateway is not of special interest.

These elements important to the ensemble here in the street.
