House, c.1600 and later C17th. Sandstone, squared and coursed except
for the right-hand cross-wing which is of coursed rubble, with slate
roof. Comprises a 2-storey hall with 2 cross-wings, the left-hand one
probably older and preceding the bay window to the hall which abuts its
right-hand return wall. The windows are mullioned, with an inner
chamfer and outer chamfer and hoods. The left-hand cross-wing has a
9-light window with a 5-light window above on the 1st floor. Both
hoods have a roll moulding under. The square bay window to the hall
has a 14-light mullioned and transomed window on each floor and is
topped by a balustrade. On its right-hand return wall is a 6-light
window on each floor. To the right of the bay window on the 1st floor
is a 3-light window. The right-hand cross-wing has a 4-light window on
each floor, with a one-light window to the left on the 1st floor, over
the door. The door has a chamfered surround with triangular head and
hood. The inner door of the internal porch has a moulded surround with
triangular head. The right-hand return wall of the cross-wing has a
5-light window on the ground floor and a 3-light window with no hood on
the 1st floor. Interior. The hall fireplace is moulded and shouldered,
of C18th type, and set within the former firehood area. 2 chamfered
stone doorways with triangular heads open into the left-hand cross-wing.
The stair is C18th with ramped handrails. Over a fireplace on the 1st
floor is a plaster panel with vine scroll decoration.
