Voluntary school and house. 1868, extended in C20. Gault brick with limestone
dressings, slate roofs. The school comprises 2 ranges forming a T-plan, facing
S, each with a gabled porch, and minor C20 extensions to left. C20 stack in
rear range. The house extends to right of the school, with an internal stack at
each end. C20 classrooms in rear right angle: School of one large storey,
house of 2 storeys. The S elevation of the school has two 4-light windows with
trefoiled heads and cast iron lattices, and a C20 door in an original gabled
porch. Steeply pitched roof with stove pipe in the middle of the ridge, with
conical cap. The W elevation has one similar window, one of 3 trefoiled lights
with cast iron lattice, 2 C20 casements, a C20 door in an original gabled porch,
and another C20 door. The house has a 3-window range of cast iron latticed
casements, and a central C20 half-glazed door with a segmental brick arch. The
front elevation steps forward twice to the middle. Steeply pitched roof.
