House, extended to form 2 houses. C15, altered in C16 and C18/C19. Timber
framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 2-bay hall range facing
SW. 2-bay crosswing to left, c.1500, with internal stack at the junction.
C19/C20 single-storey range to left, weatherboarded and roofed with red clay
pantiles. 2-storey extension to right of hall range, C18/C19, with external
stack at gable end. Single-storey range beyond, the front wall of red brick in
Flemish bond, the remainder weatherboarded, with low-pitched roof of handmade
red clay tiles. Single-storey lean-to extensions to rear of main range. 2
storeys. 4 C20 casements on ground floor, 5 on first floor. One plain boarded
door (no. 26), one C20 half-glazed door (unnumbered). The crosswing is jettied
to the front, underbuilt. Jowled posts, cambered tiebeams, crownpost roof with
straight axial braces. The hall range has a late C16 inserted floor comprising
a chamfered axial beam with lamb's tongue stops, and joists (plastered to the
soffits) supported on pegged clamps. One chamfered rising brace to the central
tiebeam is exposed. The walls have been raised approx. one metre. Interior
mainly plastered. Interior inspection of adjacent house to SE refused, March
1985.
