House, now 2 properties. Early C16, C17 floor and chimney
inserted in hall, sub-divided in late C18 or early C19. Timber
frame plastered at front (upper part of N wing weatherboarded)
and S end weatherboarded at rear and N end. Steep old red tile
roofs. A late medieval open hall house with 2 storeys jettied
crosswing to N and S. N wing jettied at rear possibly to provide
landing for original stair. Service wing at S with roof hipped
at rear and opposed doors mark cross passage blocked by later
stair and lobby of S house. Central chimney inserted at lower
end of hall. N wing stair and external N side chimney probably
original (RCHM Typescript) later external stack at S end. One
and a half storeys centre part facing W with gabled dormer at
eaves, window below and doors next each projecting wing. One
window to each floor of each wing, 2-light flush casement windows
with small panes (3-light to 1st floor of S wing). One door
boarded, and one flush 4-panelled, in plain doorcases with small
hoods. Both front jetties underbuilt in plastered brickwork. A
4-panel flush door in S end. Crown-post roof structure.
