Barn. Late C17, partly rebuilt mid- to late C18, with later alterations.
Timber framed with red brick infill on high brick plinth to sides facing
farmyard, red brick to gable ends and rear; slate roof to west range
and plain tiles to north-east range with raised verges to gable end
of west range. L-plan. 2 levels. Framing: 2 square panels with long
straight tension braces from raised cill to wall-plate. Cross-shaped
air vents in each panel with lozenge-shaped air vents (now mainly infilled)
to plinth. North-east range has one eaves hatch to far left with doors
to left and far left; wide former threshing entrance with full-height
double doors in angle with west range which has 3 eaves hatches, 5
doors (one now blocked) and inserted cart bay to left. Interior: north-
east range has double-purlin roof in 5 bays with variety of Queen-
strut, Queen-post and King-post trusses; timber framed partition between
first and second bays from left. West range also has double-purlin
roof in 6 short bays with 3 Queen-post trusses to right; Queen-strut
truss to fourth bay from right and King-post truss with timber framed
partition below dividing 2 bays spanning north-east range. Continuous
loft to 4 right bays.
