Shown on OS map as Heathfield House. Farmhouse. Late C16-early C17, enlarged C17,
enlarged and refronted early C19.Roughcast over random rubble and possibly cob, slate
roofs, overhanging eaves with sprockets on facade, brick stacks gable ends and stone
on gable end of earlier building. Plan: 3 or 4 cell and cross passage farmhouse lying
East West refronted on South side by early C19 addition.South front:2 storeys,3:1 bays;
first floor 16-pace sash windows flanking central 12-pane sash window, 12-pane sash
window in wing to right, ground floor 24-pane sash windows flanking blank opening,
16-pane sash window in wing, louvred shutters to main block, blind boxes to outer bays
first floor,entrance in one bay right return, segmental headed opening to recessed porch,
12-pane sash window above,raised and fielded-panelled double door with rectangular-light,
marginal glazing bars. Courtyard on East front containing pump and on South wall of
earlier dwelling depressed 4-centre arched chamfered door frame, plank door. Interior not
sighted;said to contain 2 framed compartment ceilings. The C19 enlargement probably dates
from around 1803 when the property was sold out of the Luttrell estate.
