Farmhouse, now house with attached stables and malthouse. Farmhouse.
Early C19 with later additions and alterations. Red brick on sandstone
plinth; hipped slate roof has red brick ridge stacks with dentilled capping
to left and right. 2 storeys with moulded stone eaves cornice to front
and left return and toothed eaves cornice to rear and right return. 3-
window front, glazing bar sashes (16-paned to ground floor) with gauged
heads. Central entrance; late C19 gabled brick porch with fretted bargeboards
and projecting keystone to outer round-headed arch with C20 glazed door.
Early C19 six-panel inner door (upper panels now glazed) with semi-circular
fanlight. Stables: attached to left by vehicle bay (partly rebuilt late
C20 ) with double doors. Early C19. Roughly coursed limestone rubble
with corrugated iron roof. 2 levels. 5 round-headed doorways, that to
left wider with double doors and with boarded door to eaves above fourth door
from left. 2 tiers of narrow rectangular air vents to left. Malthouse,
projecting to right also early C19. Uncoursed limestone rubble with dentilled
brick eaves cornice; slate roof. Boarded door to centre with segmental-
headed windows to left and right, left formerly taller. Left gable end
(facing road) has 3 doors, one directly above the other, that to ground
level partly infilled; hoist above top door. Interior. No machinery
survives but drying floors on 3 different levels and ladder-type staircases
remain. Roof in 5 bays with curved principals rising from walls to support
single purlins.
